Jaymes Bullet is a recording artist, songwriter, composer, singer, musician and producer living in Los Angeles. She’s well known for her darkly sultry, cinematic sound, citing among her influences, Billie Holiday, Bowie, Alfred Hitchcock, early 4AD Artists, Fellini and classic Film Noir. Her work has spanned three decades and produced a prolific number of original tracks, including 6 albums/EPs. In 2014 Jaymes penned the song “In Your Grave” for director Mark Waters’ (“Mean Girls”) film “Vampire Academy” and headed up the film’s hit soundtrack (Universal) which included songs by such pop notables as Katie Perry, M.I.A and Goldfrapp. Her music has played a compelling part in a number of TV series including Netflix’s hit “Sex/Life” and Showtime’s wildly successful “The L Word”. Having lived and worked in Atlanta, NYC, Los Angeles and New Orleans, Bullet has enjoyed collaborations with a top range of musical talents, including Grammy winning producer/remixer Eric Kupper (The two penned “Measure Up”, for Winter Chill series from UK label Hed Kandi), and Oscar & Grammy winning writer Donny Markowitz (co-writing “The Devil You Know” from Jaymes’ Bayou Noir Vol 1 album).
Bullet began her career in Atlanta and NYC, (initially under the name The Siren) firstly in studios, writing & recording her songs, and then playing live in the vibrant Downtown club scenes. A self-taught artist, she’s performed on the bill with contemporaries Ru Paul, Nina Hagen, Ann Magnuson, David J of Bauhaus, Amanda LePore, DJ’s Junior Vasquez, David Morales at legendary venues like The Limelight, CBGBs, Tunnel, Pyramid Club, Mercury Lounge, Don Hill’s (NYC) - Viper Room, The Gig (LA) - Subterranea, The Garage (UK) - Masquerade, Club Rio, The Cotton Club (ATL) - Republic (New Orleans) for author Anne Rice’s annual Ball.
In 2021 Jaymes released two new singles, “Velvet City” and “When The World Comes Apart”, driving ever forward into her darkly haunting dreamscape. The lush material is evocative of her early influences. 2020 saw the re-mastered release of her first EP, entitled "Forever" by The Siren, 1988. A Discography follows.
An obsessive film fan, Jaymes' visual writing style viscerally translates to composing for film and TV. She has further honed her craft working on web series ("Niki & Nora"), as well as commercial/TV composing for Amber Music NY.
Bullet continues to write and record new material under her Bayou Noir Records label name. Her longstanding Night Island Music Publishing company provides professional licensing to clients, among them: Universal, Warner Bros, Showtime, Fox, Reliance, Netflix.
On a somewhat rare occurrence, you may catch her DJ’ing an eclectic and energetic set around town.
